Montreal to Get World’s First Dance Therapy Center
Montreal will open the world’s first dance therapy center in response to ongoing research revealing the many benefits of dance on physical impairments and other personal challenges. The opening is sponsored by Quebec’s Health Ministry, Ste. Justine Hospital, and local universities. It represents the joint efforts of health providers and arts organizations to find innovative treatments for people with various health obstacles. The center will hire a select number of professional dance therapists during the early stages of its establishment. With aid from the government, they hope to explore how dance therapy can reduce problems linked to aging.
