Older People Perform Better in the Morning, Study Finds

A new study has found that, when completing memory tests in the morning, the brains of older adults work more like those of young adults. The study took place at the University of Toronto’s Rotman Research Institute and involved administering the tests to both younger and older participants in morning and afternoon sessions. The study suggests that older adults might do well to schedule intellectually challenging tasks in the morning, when they are likely to be most alert. Also, physical therapy and other treatments requiring concentration might be more effective for older people during their optimal performance time.
