Queen Bees Craft Quilts for Charity

The Queen Bees, a subgroup of Lynchburg’s Patches ‘n Pieces Quit Club meet once a month to make quilts for community charities such as the Central Virginia Area Agency on Aging, the Family Alliance and the Central Virginia Training Center.  They provide these home-made masterpieces mostly during holidays, often to people who receive very little during that time.  Many of the women who join have never quilted before, and find the meetings to be socially and creatively engaging.  Marge Denham joined several years ago to help her get through the death of her husband.  After learning how to quilt through the club’s mentoring program she said, “In a small group, the fellowship really counts.  It keeps us busy, and it keeps us young.”
