Executive Director, Elders Share the Arts
Speaker & Consultant

Jennie Smith-Peers is Executive Director of Elders Share the Arts (ESTA), a pioneering community arts organization that provides older adults with opportunities to transform their memories through the arts. Jennie believes passionately in the transformative value the arts can play in the lives of older adults and our communities. Before ESTA, she led parallel careers as a professional performer and administrator in aging services.  She is an alum of  We Are All Brooklyn Fellowship (2010-11) and of New York City’s Arts and Business Council’s Leadership Institute (2012). She holds a BFA from Emerson College; is a graduate of Antonio Fava’s Stage Internazionale di Commedia dell'Arte in Reggio-Emilia, Italy; and is currently finishing her graduate degree in Drama Therapy from NYU, where she is focusing on how reminiscence can support the long-term remission of late-life depression. She has presented locally and nationally on the benefits of creativity in later life, intergenerational community building through the arts, and strategies in how to use reminiscence and life review. In her spare time she is a disaster relief volunteer with the American Red Cross in Greater New York, a committee member on the UN NGO Committee for Older Adults, and a twitter junkie - @dignityinaging
