Creative Caregiving Initiative

IMAGINE A WORLD where every caregiving act for adults with Alzheimer’s disease and related cognitive disorders contributes to quality days for both the caregiver and their care partner.

The NCCA Creative Caregiving Initiative identifies the lack of readily accessible caregiving interventions to provide respite and renewal for this emerging sector of caregivers.

The NCCA Creative Caregiving Initiative addresses this need by providing web based creative caregiving interventions for use by family and professional caregivers in our Creative Care Guide. Using any available computer, tablet, or smart phone you can learn, experience, and share vibrant, research-based creative caregiving exercises to help you and your care partner flourish through the art of caregiving—all from the convenience of your own home, office, support network, or care setting.

Developed by professional teaching artists each module is designed for ease of use with downloadable lesson plans providing meaningful artistic interventions for individuals at any level of memory loss.

Benefits of participating: Encourages self-confidence and boosts self-esteem, validation of experiences, increased physical activity, promotes vitality, and creates, for both caregiver and care partner, a sense of belonging and worth.
