Arthur Berger, a 92 year old WWII veteran and retired lawyer, has accomplished so much in the later parts of his life that it is almost as if he is aging backwards.

A seasoned actor and director, and one of Pregones’ Associate Artistic Directors, he is a graduate of City College-CUNY, and also studied at the Alvin Ailey School and EITALC (Cuba). Awards include numerous NY ACE and HOLA distinctions for outstanding performance and direction, El Diario/La Prensa’s EL Award, and the LP21 Maestro Award, among others. Pregones Theater directing credits include: Blanco (2003 & 2005 - Best NY Latino Theatrical Production Awards), Sissy (2007), Brides (2008),I Just Love Andy Gibb (2008), Migrants! (2009), God’s Creatures (2009), Chimichangas & Zoloft (2010), La Caravana (2008), Aloha Boricua (2010), Las facultades (2010), The Blackout (2011), and The Ides of March (2011)
Other directing credits include: The Guest & The Void (IATI Theater, Best NY Theater Production - 2009), The Smell of Popcorn (2010), Los Nutcrackers... (BAAD 2007-2010), 365 Days/365 Plays (Pregones & The Public Theater). In 2011 he co-directed with René Buch the theater adaptation of Fellini’s La Strada. He is the founder and Artistic Director of Pregones Theater's award winning ASUNCION PLAYWRIGHTS PROJECT since 2003. Asunción Playwrights Project showcases the work of Latin@ playwrights exploring issues of difference and transformation at the limits of queer identity. The project fosters fun and genuine dialogue between playwrights, theatermakers, LGBTQ communities, and a general audience.
Jorge holds his BA in Theater & Dance from City College of New York along with training in dance from the Alvin Ailey School and architecture at Pratt Institute.
